March 2023

By Mike Hirsh, Club Chairman

Our 2023 AGM

Here is the Annual General Meeting Agenda for WDAC. Admission will rely on you producing your current Club membership book.

The minutes from last year were circulated  as part of the April Newsletter 2022 and are still available on the website (but some paper copies will be available at the meeting).

There is a change to the General Rules of Fishing, which although not part of the Constitution, is brought before the membership, as it is important. The change proposes a total ban on keepnets on all waters except during Club matches. It is proposed that this will take effect from the 1st January 2024.

There have been no additional new nominations for the Club's Officers or the Committee and all those in post are willing to stand again.

The meeting should not take long as, to avoid the spread of Flu and Covid, there is no presentation on a related topic, as the Club has done in past years. However, it is important so please do come along. It will be good to see you.

5. Change to the General Rules of Fishing

Banning Keepnets on all Club waters except in matches.

The existing rule 5 allows the use of keepnets except for carp in excess of 4lbs.

At the Committee of the Club on the 7 March 2023 it was agreed to recommend a change in this rule. It would now read:

Barbless and micro-barbed hooks only are to be used (except on rivers and trout catch & take waters). Cereal groundbaits may be used on all Club lakes. Keepnets are not to be used on any Club waters except during Club matches in which respect they must be knotless and at least 2.4m in length.

It is intended that the rule change will be effective from 1 January 2024, and in the interim suitable publicity will be given to the proposed change.  – Steve Neale and Hugh Miles.
