OCTOBER LAKES REPORT

Hello game fishers,

As you can gather below, Winterbourne Zelston remains closed as the water levels even after all the rain, have just not returned to anywhere normal. I will of course let you know if there are any changes.

So, some of your comments from fishing Rawlsbury this month are as follows:

• Two Rainbows each from Chapmans.

All four around 3.5lb/4lb. Enjoyable couple of hours, all caught on dry daddies. Two were caught as soon as fly landed on the water.

• I caught 3 Rainbows at 3.4, 2.8 and 2.4 lbs on a white Apache.

• We chose the right day yesterday it was delightful.

I had two from Chapman's of 3lb 6oz and 2lb 12oz on a small copper bead nymph with a green tag.Do you still require the Tickets to be posted to you?

My Guest had 2 from Chapman's of 3lb 4oz & 3lb on a Montana Nymph. He also caught and released 4 more in the 2.5 lb range on the C & R Lakes including a nice Brown on Viner's on a variety of smallish un-weighted nymphs. We had a lovely day, it was great to see the Dabchicks and Dragonflies still busy.

• It started off very cold but when the sun got higher it was soon warmer. My first fish (about 2.5lbs) came to a small black buzzer fished on an intermediate line.  I was trying out my new rod (and it works). I later had a couple of pulls but nothing that stayed on.  For the last few minutes I decided to try something that the fish hadn't seen before and hooked a nice fish which then came off.  The fly(?) In question was a pink blob. My only excuse is that I've been fishing loch style for the last 3 weeks and have taken fish on that fly.

• further catch return for 11th Oct 2fish, 4lbs and 3.5lbs caught on white Apache from Chapmans both full of small beetles. have to say all the fish I have caught have been excellent fully finned fish which fought very well.

• I fished Rawlsbury yesterday and took 2 rainbows from Chapmans (3.10oz and 3.8oz), nice clean fish full of eggs.

• Fished Rawlsbury today, hard work, but sucessful! two about 3lb on buzzer. Thank goodness we have Rawlsbury, fishing a commercial water is enough to curl your tippets

It looks like November is going to be a wet one so please take care when driving down the farm track at Rawlsbury. It’s very slippery at the moment. Also, please ensure that you sign in at the farm. I

Best wishes

Paul.
