The first round of the River Match series got underway on Sunday 8th Jan 23 on the Baileys stretch of the River Stour. The conditions were wet and windy with the occasional appearance of the sun.

The river was pushing quite fast throughout the stretch but the colour of the water remained fairly constant throughout the day.

8 anglers fished and all but 2 caught. The winning weight was 4lb 11oz which consisted of a roach of  1lb 5oz, and a couple of nice perch around 10-12oz. Other roach to 12 oz were also caught.
